The Huffington Post recently named the Burnt Almond Torte as “The Best Cake America Has Ever Made,” which, to say the least, caught our attention. This cake is so beloved, it’s often the choice cake for all milestones, including weddings, a cake’s highest honor. You may think you know Pittsburgh after chowin’ down on a Primanti Bros. sandwich. You may have even washed it all down with some Iron City Beer while watching a Steelers game. Props. But, the locals have been keeping a big toasty secret from us, and its name is the Burnt Almond Torte.
