Everyone knows someone who has been affected by a serious medical condition. Whether it’s a family member, a loved one, a friend, or a colleague at work, we often wonder to ourselves ‘what can I do to help?’ In March of 2014, a small group of lofty thinking individuals wondered about this very question. Each of them had a background in the skilled-care industry and was acutely aware of the financial burden that plagues most people with a physical or mental disability. After seeing many patients unable to afford the medical care that they needed, they decided that something must be done to help.

After many long hours of research and meetings with industry professionals, we discovered that literally thousands of Canadians were eligible for various Government benefits but we’re completely unaware. After a little more research, we discovered that one of these benefits – the Disability Tax Credit – could be life changing as it cold be claimed retroactively up to 10 years in the past. What was the problem? The application process was overly complicated. Many Doctors and accountants were unclear on the eligibility criteria. Government agents were not very helpful over the phone. People who should have been eligible were getting denied. It was time to change all this! The Canada Benefit Group was born.
