Clay & Paper

Rural arts studio offering seasonal workshops in paper clay sculpture, botanical printmaking, and mixed media ceramics. Founded by artist educator Kate O’Neill in 2018, the studio occupies a converted barn surrounded by woodlands. Students create sculptural reliefs by combining organic textures—like leaves and seed pods—with recycled paper clay, kiln firing pieces to achieve a delicate surface patina.

Operations emphasize small group learning (max 8 participants), with all materials provided. Morning sessions cover clay body preparation and paper pulp mixing; afternoons focus on design development and finishing techniques using acrylic washes and cold glazing. The studio also hosts weekend “Clay & Café” retreats, blending hands on workshops with farm to table meals prepared from local produce. Through residencies and open studios, Clay & Paper fosters a vibrant countryside art community.
