Underground mine development, production mining and tunnelling are the central disciplines of Quarry & Mining Equipment Limited, a contractor established in 1985. The business executes longhole drilling and blasting, remote mucking, cable bolting, ground support, rehabilitation and underground construction. Its construction scope includes workshop builds, bulkhead walls, ventilation systems, fan and door installation, and pumping stations, while surface work covers crushing and screening, ore and waste rock handling, waste management, and shotcrete and concrete production. Equipment sales, rental, spares and rebuilds extend its role beyond contract work.

A fleet of more than 200 machines is owned and maintained by the business through purpose-built workshops and an in-house powertrain operation. Its technical team undertakes machine assembly, major rebuilds, component overhauls, sandblasting and spray painting, supported by a substantial parts inventory and more than 50 skilled craftsmen. Directly employed crews include supervisors, underground miners, fitters, electricians, safety technicians and specialist support personnel. The company has delivered mine development, rehabilitation, infrastructure and logistics work at Boliden Tara Mines since 2009, and completed an underground design and construction package at Glensanda Super Quarry, including tunnel development, lateral excavation and a raise-bored shaft.
