About This Company

NOF CORPORATION is a diversified chemicals manufacturer with operations in functional materials, energetic materials, functional food ingredients, life science materials and corrosion protection. Its functional materials business combines surfactants, fatty acids and glycerin, fatty acid derivatives, organic peroxides, specialty acrylic monomers and polyoxyalkylene compounds for coatings, adhesives, resins, rubber, fibre modification, lubricants, personal care and pharmaceutical formulations. The company also produces MPC polymers for skin care, hair care and makeup products, alongside macrogols used as pharmaceutical excipients in stabilisers, wetting agents, ointment and suppository bases, tablet smoothing agents and coating materials.

Founded in 1937 through the merger of several industrial companies, the business developed from oils, coatings and explosives into a broader chemical manufacturer, later establishing research and production capabilities for life science and drug delivery materials. Its food business applies proprietary oil coating technology to improve ingredient stability, mask taste, prevent moisture absorption and prevent contact between components in food and feed applications. NOF has supplied solid propellants for every Japanese space rocket programme since the Pencil Rocket in 1955, and manufactures propellant for the H3 solid rocket booster at its Tanegashima operation. Its manufacturing base also includes recently established life science plants in Oita and Aichi.
