Arkema develops and manufactures specialty materials across Adhesive Solutions, Advanced Materials, Coating Solutions, and Primary Materials. Its portfolio includes specialty adhesives, acrylics and acrylic monomers, coating resins and additives, fluorochemicals, hydrogen peroxide, polyamides, fluoropolymers, electroactive polymers, organic peroxides, molecular sieves, surfactants, thiochemicals, oxygenated solvents, and UV-, LED-, and EB-curable resins and additives. These materials support applications in adhesives and sealants, coatings, paints and inks, composites, electronics, batteries, construction, automotive and transportation, renewable energy and energy storage, oil and gas, water management, packaging, pulp and paper, and 3D printing.

Created following the reorganization of Total's chemicals branch, the group became independent and was listed on the Paris stock market in 2006. It operates in 55 countries with 154 production plants and 17 R&D centers, supported by 20,700 employees. Specialty Materials activities account for 85% of sales, while the Primary Materials segment includes global acrylic monomers, legacy refrigerants, hydrogen peroxide, and certain derivatives. Research focuses on lightweight materials, the circular economy, bio-based or bio-synthesized materials, and more efficient processes. Safety, health, environmental protection, and responsible procurement are central to its corporate social responsibility approach.
