Founded in 2005, Photogear supplies photographic, video and creative production equipment alongside specialist advice and technical services. The company opened its first retail store in 2011, expanded with a Ponsonby branch in 2017, and relocated its head office to Albany in the same year. Professional printing became part of the business in 2019, using large format technology for creative output. Its operations are now concentrated at the Mt Eden flagship location, which brought services and products together following the merger of the Albany store.
