The Energy Crisis Blocking Africa’s Potential

Many of the world’s richest countries rely on huge amounts of electricity, and their economic growth tends to rise right alongside their energy use. In contrast, most of the people who still live without reliable power are in Africa. This long standing shortage has slowed the continent’s ability to build industries and compete globally. The question is why Africa still struggles to secure the energy it needs. There are several forces behind the problem, and there are also signs that a real solution may finally be within reach.
