AlgarOrange

AlgarOrange is a non-profit business association representing Algarve citrus fruit producers and organisations. It serves as the sector’s official spokesperson and brings together seven members involved in citrus cultivation. These members account for approximately 40% of citrus fruit production in the Algarve and 30% of total national citrus production. The association’s work centres on representing and defending Algarve citrus fruits, supporting the sustained production of citrus crops. Its membership structure unites companies and organisations with a shared interest in the region’s citrus sector and its commercial development.

All member organisations use integrated production methods that combine orchard management with environmental considerations and minimum pesticide use. The association promotes a sustainable operating model and close links with growers throughout the production chain. This approach covers land preparation, fertilisation, orchard disinfection, irrigation and pruning, followed by harvesting and fruit transport. By supporting these production stages and maintaining proximity to producers, the organisation works to reduce the time between harvest and delivery to end consumers, helping preserve fruit freshness.
