About This Company
Graphite India Limited is an Indian manufacturer of graphite electrodes, carbon products and specialised graphite systems serving industrial applications. Established in 1967 through collaboration with the former Great Lakes Carbon Corporation of the United States, the company has expanded from its original electrode business into speciality carbon and graphite products, machined components, impervious graphite equipment, calcined petroleum coke, carbon electrode paste and high-speed alloy tool steel. Its graphite electrodes are engineered to support productivity in furnace operations, while speciality products address applications across ferrous, non-ferrous and process industries. The company also has investments connected with graphene sheet production and battery chemicals technology.
Manufacturing operations are distributed across six plants in India, with business units for electrodes in Durgapur and Nashik, speciality products and impervious graphite equipment in Nashik, coke and paste in Barauni, and steel production in Titilagarh. Calcined petroleum coke is produced by crushing raw petroleum coke and calcining it in rotary kilns at temperatures from 1200°C to 1400°C, supporting steel, foundry, electrode manufacturing and cathodic protection uses. For impervious graphite equipment, in-house graphite and phenolic resin production supports material control. The quality management system conforms to ISO 9001:2015, and equipment can be designed to ASME, JIS, British, CODAP and other international standards.
