Kenafric Industries Limited

Founded by the Chedda family in 1987, Kenafric Industries Limited manufactures confectionery, culinary products, juices, biscuits and snacks. Its confectionery portfolio covers chiclets, bubble gum, ball gum, lollipops, candies and toffees, while its beverage business produces ready-to-drink and powdered juice products. The company also makes milk and glucose biscuits, superfine icing sugar, drinking chocolate, and OYO Mchuzi Mix culinary products. This combination places everyday sweet goods, beverages, baking ingredients and meal flavouring within a single food manufacturing operation.

The business commissioned its confectionery plant in 1991 and expanded its production base with a confectionery complex incorporating silos, warehousing and standby generation in 2005. It acquired the OYO brand from CGB Foods Ltd. in 2009 and began its chiclet gum line in 2011. Kenafric became ISO and HACCP certified in 2007, adopting Kaizen as a management tool for continued operational improvement and waste elimination. Its environmental and operating record includes an agro-waste-fired steam boiler commissioned in 2009, together with multiple Energy Management Awards from KAM, including overall awards in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
