About This Company
The Beauty Chef develops ingestible beauty and wellness products built around the relationship between digestive health and skin health. Founded by Carla Oates in 2009, the business introduced Glow®, a fermented supernutrient powder that helped establish the inner beauty category. Its portfolio spans fermented powders, elixirs, capsules, chewables and topical skincare, with formulas designed for skin nourishment, digestive wellbeing and whole-body wellness. Product development combines prebiotic, probiotic and postbiotic ingredients with wholefood nutrients, medicinal herbs and targeted compounds for concerns including skin texture, collagen support, hair and nail health, digestion and healthy ageing.
Production is supported by a Sydney fermentation plant established in 2018, giving the company control over its Flora Culture™ fermentation process and the use of GUT5Y™ probiotic strains. Fermentation is tailored to ingredients to increase nutrient bioavailability and concentrations of probiotics and postbiotics. Microbiologists, naturopaths and nutritionists contribute to formula development, while internal specialists provide product information and individual guidance. The company uses Certified Organic and biodynamic wholefood ingredients where possible, and many products carry Australian Certified Organic recognition. Its marine collagen formulation uses Marine Stewardship Council-certified sustainable marine collagen peptides.
