Oleon NV

Oleon NV produces oleochemical products derived from natural fats and oils. Its portfolio includes fatty acids, glycerine, esters, dimers, technical oils, specialty oleochemicals and biodiesel. These materials are used as raw materials, ingredients and additives in crop protection, cosmetics, industrial ingredients, lubricants, nutrition, oilfield, coatings and detergents. Their functional roles include chemical reactivity, lubricity and the stabilization of emulsions. The company also supplies oleochemical building blocks and specialized fatty acid esters for varied end-product formulations.

Production starts with renewable raw materials including rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, palm kernel oil and animal fats. These inputs are separated into basic components, then converted, purified or recombined with other molecules. Products are delivered as liquids in drums, tankers or ships, and as powders or flakes in bags. The head office is in Ertvelde near Ghent, and production sites operate in Belgium, Germany, France, Malaysia, the United States and Brazil. Oleon is part of Avril and exports end products to more than 100 countries.
