Since 1977, Volgren Australia Pty Ltd has built bus bodies and buses for public transport, school, charter and coach operations. Its Australian portfolio includes the Optimus city and route platform, the Endura school bus, Marcopolo Audace school and charter coaches, and Marcopolo G8 coaches for touring and charter work. Engineering, production and aftersales support are coordinated around locally built vehicles. The Optimus platform covers rigid, articulated and double-deck body styles across diesel, hybrid, battery-electric and hydrogen technologies, with layouts specified for route capacity and accessibility. Endura uses a corrosion-resistant CoBolt aluminium body structure for demanding school and regional duty cycles.

The business operates three manufacturing facilities in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, alongside service centres in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide. Its network supplies parts, warranty work, mobile service, refurbishment and body repairs, including support for Volgren and Marcopolo models. A member of the Marcopolo Group since the group acquired full ownership in 2017, the company combines local bus building with access to the group’s global engineering, technology and purchasing resources. Its first battery-electric Optimus bus entered service in 2019, and the program later added hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles. In 2026, it built Australia’s first electric articulated bus at Malaga on a Volvo BZL Electric Articulated chassis.
