Zaptec designs smart AC charging systems for electric vehicles in homes and shared commercial installations. Its compact domestic charging unit works with any EV and accommodates up to three chargers within one installation, while its commercial system is built to scale from a small number of charge points to hundreds. The portfolio also includes load management technology that monitors household electricity demand and identifies surplus power from solar and other local energy generation. Connected chargers receive feature updates through WiFi, PLC or 4G LTE-M, and the Zaptec Portal manages charging stations, records usage by user and exports detailed charging data.

Safety engineering is integral to both product lines. The commercial charging unit integrates an MCB for common circuit branch installation and a Type B residual current device to address short-circuit, overcurrent, and earthing faults. Its electrical safety has undergone third-party testing against IEC EN 61851-1 and related standards. The domestic unit incorporates 6 mA DC residual current protection, automatic calibration, and self-testing before each session, plus internal temperature sensors that stop charging when a problem is detected. In 2025, the commercial unit achieved Eichrecht compliance for the German market, while the business aligned with EU cybersecurity rules and joined Task53 to contribute to the future of EV charging standards.
