Monbat AD

Monbat AD develops and manufactures electrochemical power sources for automotive, stationary, and selected industrial applications. Its lead-acid battery business covers automotive and stationary batteries together with servicing activities, while its EAS operation produces lithium-ion cells and battery systems based on lithium iron phosphate chemistry. EAS combines cylindrical cell technology with a modular approach to battery pack design, serving demand for high-power batteries in selected industries. This dual technology base places conventional lead battery production alongside advanced rechargeable cell and system development.

The group’s industrial roots extend to starter battery factories opened in Montana in 1959 and Dobrich in 1965, followed by the privatization of the Montana plant in 1998. Its operations also encompass battery recycling, where the Italian engineering and contracting subsidiary STC has implemented a system intended to reduce natural gas consumption in lead recycling. Product development is governed through a dedicated committee that structures the transition from new concepts to production and market introduction, with early quality control built into the process. Strategic sourcing coordinates group material balances and operational treasury, reflecting the importance of lead and other production inputs to the business.
